First Meet…

Kimmy and Jesse first laid eyes on each other September 28th 2012 just 2 weeks after Jesse had moved to Turkey, and 3 days after Kimmy arrived. They met through a mutual friend who was living with Jesse at the time, but their friendship didn’t really start until they began attending and then leading worship together at the same church.

First Interest…

Kimmy’s interest first peaked when she saw a video of Jesse playing the harmonica and guitar and singing the song ‘Call Me Maybe’. To acknowledge this, she promptly sent him a half full bottle of coke. Several weeks later, Jesse took interest when conversing with Kimmy at a New Year’s Eve party.

First dates…

Their first date was on January 19th 2013 when Jesse nervously called and asked Kimmy out for coffee. On that date they took a ferry from Europe to Asia and proceeded to talk and laugh for about 6 hours while sipping their warm beverages and watching the rain. Then, just four days later, they enjoyed dinner for a second date. Over the next few weeks Jesse continued to pursue her.

Making it official…

At one point through a series of events, some including flowers, that continually affirmed their relationship, they felt the Lord was blessing them into a dating relationship. Then on April 20th 2013 while walking by the water, they committed to getting to know each other with the intention of marriage in the future.

Engaged…

Well marriage in the future is what is happening! After about 10 months of dating and receiving many confirmations from the Lord and others, they felt that marriage was indeed what God was calling them into. Not to mention the fact that they really love each other… So on March 1st 2014 Jesse asked her to marry him and she said yes! The ask was a complete surprise to Kimmy and she did not even know that Jesse had her parents’ blessing. In the morning he surprised her with breakfast at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Then they went for a walk by the water where they would often walk to a park where they would always stop for a few minutes. Jesse had a friend take his guitar to the park and another friend hide in a bush to take secret photos. As they walked up to the guitar Jesse said, “oh look, my guitar! I should play you a song that I wrote for you!” (Kimmy still didn’t understand that he was about to propose.) Jesse played her the song, and then said a few memorable things and got down on a knee with the ring held out. Kimmy cried happy tears and said of course! Then they walked and spent time together for a bit before celebrating with friends that evening, also a surprise for her.
